The B.Sc. Major in Biology is a foundational degree program strongly grounded in scientific methodology and practical skills. The structure and breadth of courses offered is designed to equip graduates with a high level of competency in the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for competitive entry into the workforce in a wide range of fields. Central to this program is the provision of a lab intensive experience where students learn first-hand, the appropriate use of equipment and techniques to investigate living organisms and how they function. Graduates will also be well prepared for entry into a professional school or graduate studies program.

Biology: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major

This bachelor of science (BSc) degree offers students the option of completing either the general environmental science stream or one of five specialized streams that include applied biology, environmental archaeology, environmental earth systems, environmetrics, and water science. Students declare their stream by meeting with their academic advisor or submitting the online form.

Bachelor of Computing Science & Master of Finance Dual Degree Program (with Zhejiang U in China)

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences combines core courses in the biological sciences with specialized courses in cells, molecules, and physiology; ecology, evolution, and conservation; or an open concentration. Within the core program you will take courses in genetics, developmental biology, physiology, ecology, and evolution. This degree will prepare you for a career in teaching, veterinary medicine, dentistry, medicine, conservation, research in the life sciences and more.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics is about analyzing data using mathematical and computational tools to glean meaningful insights into scientific problems. You'll learn the fundamentals of probability theory, statistical computing, and statistical communication. A statistics degree prepares you for a future in a world where organizations and institutions need to make sense of vast amounts of data. You'll have the opportunity to participate in a co-op program, and upon graduation, will be prepared for careers in statistics and data in the pharmaceutical, gaming, financial, market research, or computer software industries.

The Bachelor of Science Degree concentrates study in one subject to the level required for a minor. Students can then apply to transfer the credit to the BSc, General program.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology allows you to build a strong foundation in all aspects of biology with maximum flexibility. You can choose courses to match your interests giving you the ability to tailor your education. The program involves extensive field and laboratory experiences.

Biology: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology combines chemistry and molecular biology in a way that prepares you for the explosion of knowledge of life at the molecular level. You will learn to apply chemical principles and knowledge to biological applications, and study both chemistry and biology before specializing in various aspects of chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology.

Chemical Biology: Bachelor of Science - Major

The Bachelor of Science in Computing Science is a four-year degree program that provides you with a broad training in science in the first two years, and then a thorough training in computing science (concentrated in the last two years). You will then be well qualified for a wide range of employment opportunities, for further study in advanced degrees and for research positions. A cooperative education option is available for the Major in Computing Science.

The Bachelor of Computing Science (BCS) consists of two years of general study followed by two years of concentrated studies in computing science. It is an opportunity to build a diverse set of skills. Complete a co-op work term, and you will gain industry experience and put what you learn into practise in the real world. TRU offers opportunities for our degree students to participate in undergraduate research, which allows you to grow both your resume and academic credentials while completing your degree. The program offers several pathways to the field of computing science, including a double degree option, laddering from a diploma, and a direct path from other areas, including Arts and Business.

The Bachelor of Computing Science consists of general and concentrated computing coursework. Students will explore general and concentrated computing coursework to help enter the field of computering science. 

The Bachelor of Science in Biology provides a broad understanding of all aspects of living things and their processes, including plants, animals, and insects, and their relationships to their environment. Through practical experience in laboratory and field work, you will gain industry specific work experience to supplement their classroom learning.

In the program, you can combine Computer Science courses with relevant work experience through a co-op component.

Integrated Computer Science: Bachelor Degree - Major or Honours (UBCV)

The Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Integrated Engineering focuses on a broad, non-specialized engineering education. Rather than earning a degree in one specific area of engineering, you will gain background in core areas such as materials, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and systems involving chemical, electro-mechanical, and biological components. In addition to the core, you may select 18 credits of technical electives to explore your interests further. The program emphasizes engineering design through design project courses taken in each term that will prepare you for a career in the engineering field. 

Integrated Engineering: Bachelor of Applied Science Degree (UBCV)

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics provides you with a solid understanding in theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of statistical science. You can participate in co-op education placements to broad your skills and gain hands-on experience in your field of study.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics emphasizes the role of statistics within the general framework of problem solving, and helps you develop an understanding of the concepts of observation, hypothesis, evidence, and validation. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to work in various areas of science, such as business, engineering, government, and industry.

Emphasis is placed on northern ecosystems and the adaptations and adjustments of northern and temperate-climate plants and animals to natural and disturbed environments. You'll be able to choose to focus on specific interests such as plant and animal ecology or physiology, conservation biology, wildlife and fisheries ecology, or molecular ecology. Upon graduation, you'll have lab and practical experience that will have prepared you for careers related to northern ecosystems.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science gives you a thorough exposure to basic areas like computer architecture, programming languages and methodology, algorithms and data structures, systems programming, operating systems and networking, knowledge-based and database systems, software engineering, and theory. By the end of the program, you will have developed the advanced practical computing and problem-solving skills required for professional work.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology provides a foundational understanding of cell biology, biochemistry, and ecology/organism interactions. You may also choose to participate in extra-curricular learning opportunities through field trips, study tours, and directed studies. Biology degree holders are well placed to pursue graduate studies or compete for entry-level positions in fields like land environment management, food and drug, geographical survey, health, agriculture, and more.

The Bachelor's Degree in Computing Science focuses on how to use advanced math and algorithms to solve real-world problems. You'll gain a foundation in database management, data analysis, programming, and software design. You will also dig into key topics such as privacy, security, hacking, ethics, big data processing, and machine learning. Your computing courses will include lectures, labs, workshops, and projects.  You'll have the option to participate in a co-op program, and study abroad. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for careers in software and web development, data mining and processing, network design, and more.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology and Earth Sciences allows you to discover the relationships between life on Earth and geological, oceanic and atmospheric processes and explore how these processes affect our planet. You'll build your knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of our Earth and the life it sustains. Through this program, you'll have the opportunity to work with experts at field schools, marine laboratories, or through a co-op placement. 

Biology and Earth Sciences (Combined Major): Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Biology allows you to explore life at all levels of organization, from the gene to the ecosystem. Through this program you'll understand the key fields of biology and develop practical skills through field work, laboratory work and research projects. You also have the opportunity to design your own program of study with the option of including a co-op placement. 

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Health Information Science is about how health information science bridges the worlds of health care, management and technology. You'll develop and manage the latest health information technologies and learn how to build healthcare systems that are usable, secure and efficient. As you complete your degree, you will also gain work experience in a mandatory co-op placement. 

Computer Science and Health Information Science: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics allows you to study data science in this combined program. You'll work on analysis, problem-solving and data management techniques while sharpening your coding and design skills. Through this program you'll learn how to extract meaningful data and predict future trends. You also have the option to participate in a co-op placement as you complete your degree. 

Computer Science and Statistics: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is a deeper understanding of computer systems and software. This program allows you to develop your problem-solving skills and work in an ever-growing field. You'll graduate with career skills that will apply to almost every industry. As you complete your degree, you have the option to participate in a co-op placement.

In the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Degree, you'll study numbers, arrangements, pattern and space. Develop your problem-solving skills and learn how to approach questions mathematically. This flexible program lets you combine different areas of mathematics in any way you want. The Major in Mathematics is a program broadly based in the mathematical sciences requiring courses in each of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, discrete mathematics, and statistics, and having enough elective choice to permit emphasis in any of these four areas.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology program is designed to be experiential, and invites you to study local and global biological phenomena while contributing to research that has meaningful, real-world applications.  The Bachelor of Science, Major in Computer Science, is designed to meet the training and educational requirements outlined by CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). These requirements reflect the needs of the computing industry, both nationally and internationally. The program is composed of courses drawn from the systems, theoretical and business application domains. It is designed to train you in applied computer science and educate them in the social, ethical and legal implications of computer science.
